Northeast Iceland History & Heritage Map

Northeast Iceland History & Heritage Map is richly illustrated and with text boxes on the front (roads and road numbers as well). Texts and beautiful photographs from the northeast on the back. The history of the Northeast begins before Iceland was settled: around 870 AD Garðar Svavarsson, a Swedish Viking, spent a winter in Iceland and left behind one of his crewman, Náttfari, and two slaves. If true this means Náttfari was the first settler of Iceland but not Ingólfur Arnarson who settled at Reykjavik around 874 AD.
The map introduces the history and heritage of Northeast Iceland from the settlement in the 9th century up to the 20th century. The map also introduce the inhabitants’ way of life, the legends and birdlife of the area, whales to be found by the Icelandic coast, Icelandic bread and flat bread and tourism in Northeast Iceland.

Size: A1 (84 x 59 cm), folded in a pocket version (10,5 x 20 cm).
