Aunts Design Iceland is an authentic collection line, where the Icelandic wool sweater pattern is used as a base. The brand was invented by two aunts Kolla and Kristín in the fall of 2009 but both of them have been in the fashion business for many years.

The first items on the market were quality cotton T-shirts with a wool pattern hand printed on. The first pattern they used is originated from an old sweater, owned by Kolla's father-in-law, which he got as a present in the 60's.

The Icelandic wool sweater pattern is not old as it is believed that Auður Laxness, the wife of Halldór Laxness the Nobel prize winner, knitted the first sweater in the late 40's. The pattern is unique and has earned worldwide reputation.
