Abandoned farms

Deserted farms in Iceland are the subject material of these outstanding photographs by Nökkvi Elíasson. The beauty that exists in derelict buildings is captured here, and thereby evokes inspiration from times gone by, references of life that was. Deserted farms have been Nökkvi Elíasson's subject for almost two decades. He has looked for subjects all over the country and captured on film deserted farms, many of which have now disappeared into the peat. These unusual and special photographs have been shown worldwide and aroused well-earned attention everywhere. Aðalsteinn Ásberg Sigurðsson has been known for his various types of writing for a long time. Amongst other things, he has published poetry, poetry translations and children's books. Here he composes poetry inspired by Nökkvi Elíasson's photographs.
